Gifted Classroom-Bringing Back the Dead

During the month of February, my gifted students have been memorizing and learning about the Presidents of the United States. They also started researching a president.  Initially the students were going to become their president through an internet based site called Blabberize (http://www.blabberize.com/).  When the iPads came into our classroom I feverishly reseached 3D talking photos and was introduced to the amazing iPad app called Photospeak. (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photospeak-3d-talking-photo/id329711426?mt=8)

So how does this app work?  The students download and save their desired pictures from a common domain. Then they upload it to the app.  The app then recognizes the eyes and the mouth and makes the image come to life.  Really!  Abe Lincoln's eyes actually blink, his head turns slightly, his mouth opens, and the app even gave him teeth. The students can then record their writings or scripts acting as their president.  Hook up speakers to your iPad and voila!  What a great new way to bring history to life for only $2.99
